Fall ’12 Trend: Flipping For The Fluted Skirt

September 26, 2012 • Fashion, Fashion Blog, Trends

The fluted or trumpet skirt can be traced back to the 1920′s and updated versions can be traced back to the Fall ’12 runways. The skirt was seen at the Etro and DKNY shows. What’s a fluted skirt you ask? It’s basically a skirt that’s fitted or drop-wasted on top and flips out or flares at the hem and can be of varying lengths. We have absolutely ‘flipped’ for this modern and playful style as it takes the pencil skirt to a new level. Look for solids, prints or mixed mediums like wool with leather trim. Here are 10 fluted skirts we adore:

1. Creatures of the Wind Contrast-paneled Metallic Wool-blend Brocade Skirt, $1250

2. Halston Heritage Flared Leather Skirt, $695

3. Preen Line Sequin Danna Skirt with Frill Hem, $515.66

4. Versace Flared Wool Mini Skirt, $795

5.  ASOS Mini Skirt in Flecked Herringbone, $60.36

6. Stella McCartney Patty Brocade Skirt, $880

7. Willow Pixel-print Flared Cotton Skirt, $795

8. A Wear Fishtail Skirt, $60.36

9. Peter Pilotto K Printed Crepe Skirt, $1095
