The 8th Annual Fashion Focus Chicago is just around the corner, and it kicks off with a show you won’t want to miss: The Designers of the Chicago Fashion Incubator Presented by Macy’s. This is your chance to view collections of emerging Chicago designers and support the Chicago Fashion Incubator (CFI). The runway show in Millennium Park on October 17th will feature current and past CFI designers and the proceeds help fund future incubator designers.
“For many of our designers-in-residence, this is the first time they will see their work on a runway in front of a large audience,” said Amy Olson, Interim Executive Director of the Chicago Fashion Incubator. “It is an incredibly rewarding experience and a real validation of all their hard work.”
Proceeds from the fashion show will benefit CFI, which was founded in 2008 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization supporting emerging Chicago designers by providing them with the business resources to ensure their success. CFI operates out of a nearly 2,400 square-feet space on the 11th floor of Macy’s on State Street, which has supported the organization since its founding.
“The Chicago Fashion Incubator is an important vehicle for nurturing local fashion talent and keeping that talent in Chicago,” said Andrea Schwartz, Vice President of Media Relations and Cause Marketing for Macy’s North and Midwest.
Debuting their Spring 2011 collections at the show are the 2012 CFI designers-in-residence including Sarah Church of Sarah Church, Brooke Conrady of Blank Nation Apparel, Lagi Nadeau of Lagi Nadeau, Christina Monley of Christina Karin, Rachel Frank of Rachel Frank Design and LaTonya Williams of Elizabeth Smith.
Also showcasing their work are CFI alumni including Concetta Cipriano of Cettina, Miriam Cecilia Carlson of Miriam Cecilia, Christina Fan of C/Fan, Anna Hovet of Anna Hovet, Kahindo Mateene of Modahnik, Taneasha Prunty of Gidi, Crystal B. Simms of Crystal B. Designs and Ashley Zygmunt of Zamrie.
The Designers of the Chicago Fashion Incubator presented by Macy’s will be held at 7:30 pm near the Chase Promenade at Millennium Park. Tickets can be purchased for $35 for general admission and $95 for VIP admission, which includes an exclusive pre-party at 6:00pm and VIP seating for the show. Visit www.tix.com to purchase tickets.
The show would not be possible without the generous support of CFI sponsors: Macy’s, CS Magazine, Ford Models, Frost, Mario Tricoci, and VeeV.
