Fall ’12 Trend: The Illusion Dress – Loose 10 Pounds Instantly

October 12, 2012 • Fashion Blog, Trends

Want to create the illusion of an hourglass figure without hitting the gym? The illusion dress is the answer. It’s not necessarily new or innovative, but clearly the starlets who wear them are fans. Illusion dresses (also known as optical illusion dress or panel dresses) made a splash last year (remember Kate Winslet in that Stella McCartney?) and showed up again on the Fall ’12 runways of Prabal Gurung, Stella McCartney  and Victoria Beckham.

The dress is usually two colors (color-blocked) with the side panels being a different color than the body that curve in to create an hourglass illusion and trick the eye. Basically you are looking for a curved and therefore slimming panel. The beauty of the (optical) illusion dress is that it looks great on anyone. If you want to look 10 pounds lighter the dress will do that for you, or if you have no curves, it will create them! Brilliant right? We think so too.
