Mario Tricoci’s Fashion Takes Flight show took center stage in the tent at Millennium Park on Thursday night. For its fifth year, the show presented a handful of Chicago’s best fashion designers with their pieces showcased on the runway by a selection of lucky aspiring models. The models were hand-picked by Tricoci himself, given runway-worthy makeovers and sent on a whirlwind experience of photo shoots, TV commercial spots and modeling classes. The end result was the crowning of the year’s “Mario, Make Me a Model” contest winner. The lucky winner was rewarded a modeling contract with Factor Models, an exotic vacation for two and a one year supply of cosmetics and Vitamin Water.
The designers featured are very near and dear to the hearts of the Chicago fashion scene and once again did not disappoint. This year’s show presented collections from Imaginary People, C. Dahlstedt, J. Cheikh, Shelby Steiner, and AZZA. After all was said and done a beautiful young woman, Caroline Mazurek, got her big modeling break and we all walked away with some great fashion to dream about.
