Diesel Black Gold’s New Creative Director, Andreas Melbostad

Step aside Sophia Kokosalaki, because Diesel Black Gold just named a new creative director. Norwegian designer, Andreas Melbostad,  was just announced to take on the position of Diesel Black Gold’s womenswear collection creative director. With his sophisticated urban style, Andreas Melbostad will fit right in with Diesel’s sporty, yet cosmopolitan aesthetic.

Hardly a new-comer, Melbostad has worked with prestigious designers such as Nicole Farhi, Alber Elbaz, Nina Ricci, and Donna Karan before becoming the creative director of Phi and starting his own New York based company. Melbostad’s first Diesel collection will be unveiled  this December for pre-fall ’13. Soon after that, he will take on the ready-to-wear show in New York in February 2013.

Diesel’s stint with Andreas Melbostad marks the brand’s new development strategy to open several new Diesel Black Gold boutiques in 2013. With a new SoHo store already open, New York customers wait in anticipation to see Melbostad’s designs fill the racks.
