Outfit Of The Day For October 25, 2012: How To Wear A Vintage Dress

October 25, 2012 • Fashion Blog, Outfit Of The Day

I’m starting to understand why some girls always wear a dress. It is actually easier to wear a dress than separates. This vintage Ralph Lauren Dress in navy silk was in my sister’s closet (with tags on it) since the late 80’s! So I borrowed it (she may never get it back!) The padded shoulders are a little bit Dynasty, but they give the illusion of a smaller waist. With its long sleeves, all I need to add is a necklace, a handbag and a pair of ladylike pumps.

Dress: Vintage 1980s Ralph Lauren Silk Wrap Dress. This L’Agence Satin-twill Wrap Dress, $460 is surprisingly similar.

Necklace: K.Amato, no longer available. See this K. Amato Marquis Beaded Necklace in Black, $98 or this K. Amato The Division Necklace, $72

Handbag: Banana Republic Python Print Leather Clutch, no longer available. See this Givenchy Antigona Python Envelope Clutch Bag, $2020 or this Lauren MerkinCaroline Python-effect Leather Clutch, now $126

Shoes: Ifeanyi Chuku Pantent Pumps with cutout heel in raisin, contact IfeanyiChuku.com. Or see these Karen Millen Sleek Patent Pumps, $199
