Aloe Vera denim through Gsus Sindustries’ new denim program

Jeans Go Cosmetic

It’s pretty easy to believe that the world has seen it all when it comes to jeans; however the timeless garment is working on reinvention again. Denim brands are using cosmetic qualities to the jeans in order to add skin care and fight against wrinkling, sagging, and sometimes even weight gain. The Chilean brand Mohicano Jeans began producing a jean with the concept of aloe vera, along with its new Denim Therapy collection that features jeans with properties that fight cellulite and stretch marks. The denim is planned on being sold for $85 and the effects of the jeans are active for up to 40 washes.

Other brands jumping on the concept of cosmetics include Wrangler, with a new Denim Spa Therapy for Legs collection. Anticellulite, moisturizers, and other naturals elements are infused in the denim, softening the skin as its being worn. Some jeans even feature a jasmine fragrance. The Italian brand LeRock also claims they created jeans that reduce the size of hips and thighs by dissolving fat and fighting cellulite. Ansterdam-based Gsus Sindustries created a “made by instinct” program that includes denim being dipped in the extract of aloe vera plant’s, which create a special finish on the jeans and moisturizes the skin during every wear.

Diane von Furstenberg Designs for Evian

Since 2008 the water brand Evian has been collaborating with designers to create limited edition water bottles. This year marks a first with Diane von Furstenberg being the only American designer to design for the water brand. Written on the bottle, in von Furstenberg’s handwriting nonetheless, are the words “water is life is love is life is love is life is water.” The words are printed in white ink and the signature heart logo of the designer is shown in red. The bottle features a screw-cap design and is recyclable.

Other designers Evian has collaborated with includes Paul Smith, Issey Miyake, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Christian Lacroix. This year’s edition will be available in stores throughout November and on Evian’s website at evian.fr for 2.49 euros, or approximately $3.23.

Other pieces to be featured on the auction block include designer labels from Chanel and Azzedine Alaïa. The entire auction collection will be featured on public display from November 10th until the sale.
