So this week our beauty editor Kelley Epps-Woods penned an article on her favorite makeup palettes. I don’t think she has a full understanding of my obsession with holiday palettes…all holiday palettes. Actually her article succeeded in making me run to Sephora on Monday and purchase 2 of her suggestions. Two I didn’t already have.
So in case you don’t know me, I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Lauren and I am addicted to makeup palettes. Every November I start stalking Sephora to see what the holiday palettes from my favorite brands will look like and then plan my attack. Yes, yeah, I know they make perfect gifts, but whatever, I want them all for myself! Here are some of my current favorites (er, obsessions):
When I first got this I thought somebody had sent me a box of candy bars and I was not happy! Um, hello. I don’t need to add pounds now! Then I realized I was looking at LORAC’s exclusive holiday collection of six palettes. LORAC’s Eye Candy Full Face Collection is even better than a box of chocolate candy bars! The six ‘bars’ are a curated selection of fresh colors for eyes, cheeks, and lips. Four of the palettes are for eyes in Ooh La La Vanilla (Nude Eye Shadow Palette), Caramel Love Affair (Golden Eye Shadow Palette), Tantilizing Cocoa (Bronze Eye Shadow Palette), Blackberry Truffle Seduction (Smoky Eye Shadow Palette). One of the bars is the Cream Eye Liner Palette in Mesmerizing Dark Chocolate and the last bar contains Cheek & Lip Tint Palette in Indulge in Berry Kisses. Delicious and calorie free!
I saw this amazeballs kit on my way out of Sephora and stopped to take a look. It’s over $500 worth of Tarte treats for $54? Yes, please. Not only is the bag that contains Tarte Carried Away Collector’s Set hot it has all of the essentials. The all-inclusive set features six eye shadow quads (that’s 24 shades!) in both shimmering and matte formulas. There are also deluxe maracuja glosses in a shade for every mood. The kit also includes an Amazonian clay 12-hour blush (and complementary domed brush), finishing powder to balance skin, and dramatic mascara. This will be mine!
I was completely smitten with these colors when I saw this Smashbox Studio Pop Eye Palette. Mind you I bought it before I followed Kelley’s advice and got the souped up version shown above (Smashbox The Master Class Palette). Not only does this palette include an array of 16 Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadows and four cream eye liners in a mirrored palette that is perfect for travel, it also comes with get-the-look cards. Last year I bought a Stila palette with a fabulous how-to booklet and used it exclusively, but I did not like their palette this year…so this one was my replacement!
Even lips deserve a kit. Especially when all of the colors are perfection. BITE Luminous Lip Library is a complete kit of lip treatments and moisture-rich lip color in a purse-friendly compact. It comes with a large mirror and lip brush, and 9 nourishing lip colors and 3 pre-color products that deliver super antioxidant Resveratrol, which fights free radicals with potent long-term age-repair benefits. Each Luminous Crème “B” palette contains the Resveratrol equivalent of 1.5 glasses of red wine!
Hourglass has put together this four-piece collection of their bestselling products that will make you look flawless. The Best of Hourglass Set features two primers that are designed for all skin types. Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15 neutralizes redness (even rosacea) to create an even skintone (if you have never tried this product, it will change your life). The No. 28 Primer Serum is infused with 28 ultrahydrating ingredients to nourish your skin. This silky, lightweight oil blend glides on and quickly absorbs to hydrate the skin, refine the appearance of visible pores, and prepare your skin for makeup application. Also included is Hourglass Film Noire Full Spectrum Mascara, which lengthens, lifts, adds volume and clump-free definition, and conditions. Then complete your look with a full-size Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss which is not only not sticky or tacky, but is water-resistant and fills in fine lines on the lips making them appear soft and smooth. Brilliant.
True Anastasia is known for brows, but you may want to consider her for eye-color too. Especially when you see the shadows in this deluxe Anastasia Want You To Want Me Eye Shadow Palette. OK, so it had me at the Cheap Trick song title name, but it also features some amazing nude and plum shades. The mirrored compact is small and perfect for travel but packs a punch with a brush and 9 matte and pearlized shadows, Liquid Eye Liner, and Mini Clear Brow Gel. This kit is coming home with me for Thanksgiving! I mean one of the colors is named “Brass in Pocket!” I love the Prentenders. Don’t you?
While I was wondering around Sephora earlier this week I noticed this eye palette. I was transfixed by the colors and immediately notified Kelley. It was my turn to make her run to Sephora! Too Faced The Return Of Sexy Eye Shadow Palette truly lives up to it’s name. These 3 distinct eye color looks are sexy and seductive as hell. This palette offers a complete range of shades paired with a variety of mattes, shimmer, sparkle, and pearl finishes. There are 15 must-have shadows organized into three provocative collections: The Ingénue, The Icon, and The Bombshell. Tucked beneath the mirror are three detailed get-the-look cards for easy step-by-step application. Yeah! i can not wait to get my hands on this one!
Any item from the NARS Warhol collection is worthy of your attention, but here we are going to focus on the Larger Than Life Lip Gloss Set. The keepsake pop art ‘soup can’ contains 5 Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Silver Factory (aluminum glitter), Chelsea Girls (flesh-toned beige), Drella (ultra sheer hot pink), Blue Movie (pink sherbet), Myths (rosy pink). We love it!
