Fall 2012 Trend: Velvet Underground

November 16, 2012 • Fashion Blog, Trends

Yesterday we highlighted velvet shoes and bags, so today I thought it only appropriate to showcase velvet apparel which is yes, a hot trend for Fall 2012. After taking a few seasons off, velvet was back in a big way on the Fall ’12/’13 RTW runways (Gucci, Alberta Ferretti, Ralph Lauren, Jason Wu) and endures as the the favorite luxury fabric of the season. You don’t have to be royalty to wear it. In fact, we loved it most in jeans and burnout patterns. So go for that velvet jacket and pair it with a pair of baroque printed pants, or a patterened pair of velvet pants and wear them with your favorite cashmere sweater. Or how about a velvet burnout pencil shirt with a chiffon top? There are so many option now so you have no excuse NOT to add velvet to your wardrobe in some way, shape or form.
