New Face at Maison Martin Margiela
Former Celine designer Ivana Omazic has landed at Maison Martin Margiela in a senior creative capacity, according to market sources. A Croatian-born talent, Omazic joined Celine in 2005 and ultimately succeeded Roberto Menichetti, exiting in 2008 when the fashion house tapped Phoebe Philo.
Educated in fashion in Milan, Omazic has also worked for Romeo Gigli, Prada Sport, Jil Sander and Miu Miu. She could not be reached for comment. A spokesman for Maison Martin Margiela told WWD the house does not communicate on individual designers, characterizing its studio as a creative collective with members of long standing which it feeds regularly with new contributors.
Is Issey Back at his Label?
Could it be that Issey has returned to this roots? Rumor has it (according to Style.com), that the 74 year old avant-garde artist/designer Issey Miyake has possibly returned to his label, or “at least is working more closely with his protégés.” There has not been an official word from Miyake or the label bearing his namesake but here’s hoping Christmas comes early this year!
Kate Middleton Not a Kardashian Fan
Well, now we know someone who isn’t keeping up with the Kardashians… There’s a rumor floating that Kate Middleton had totally snubbed Kim Kardashian’s light-hearted suggestion that the pair meet in London for tea. Marie Claire UK reports that not only did the Duchess of Cambridge chuckle at the idea that she and Kim would settle down for some girl time, but Her Royal Highness has also sent back some sample Kardashian Kollection clothes that Kim mailed to her.
The reality TV royal reportedly sent Kate some items from the Kardashians’ new line at Dorothy Perkins, a high-street UK department store chain. Kim was supposedly hoping that the duchess would wear them and drum up some publicity. If anyone knows the Kardashians, they are keenly aware that the line consists of bandage dresses, liquid leggings and sheer blouses… not really fit for the future queen, eh? “Kate is hardly going to turn up for an event with the Queen in a cheap leopard-print miniskirt or gold sequinned jacket,” Marie Claire‘s source says of the duchess’ decision to return the items.
