The Official Portrait of the Duchess of Cambridge Revealed

The official portrait of Kate Middleton by Paul Emsley was unveiled on Friday in London. A glowing Kate was accompanied by her husband William to view the piece at the National Portrait Gallery. The couple is thrilled by the new work of art and spent about ten minutes looking at the painting privately before meeting the artist and his family. The portrait depicts the head and shoulders of Middleton and, as per her suggestion, shows her natural persona, and not her official one. Kate, who has been suffering from morning sickness, told Emsly, “It’s just amazing, I thought it was brilliant.” William agreed, saying, “It’s beautiful, it’s absolutely beautiful.” The royal couple then attended a breakfast to celebrate the new addition to the gallery. The painting went on view to the public on Friday afternoon. The work of art is getting mixed reviews with some critics calling it “awkward.”

Alber Elbaz Partnering with Lancôme

Alber Elbaz is partnering with beauty giant Lancôme for his first venture into makeup. The limited-edition cosmetics collection is due out June 15th. A 15-second animated film by Elbaz to tease the color cosmetics line will be live on Lancôme’s YouTube channel and its Facebook page starting today at 10 a.m. in Paris. Youcef Nabi, president of Lancôme International, is thrilled to have the Lanvin designer on board. “Alber Elbaz is, without a doubt, one of the world’s most influential fashion designers. But beyond that, he is also the most talented. We are extremely proud and happy that, with us, he is set to channel his universe in the world of makeup for the very first time,” he said in a statement. The L’Oréal-owned brand has long had a fashion focus with a recent collaboration with designer L’Wren Scott. More recently, Lancôme has joined forces with Olympia Le-Tan to design a clutch containing her favorite shades of lipstick and nail polish, which will hit stores in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Italian cashmere company Ballantyne has teamed up with British fashion designer Matthew Williamson to create a capsule knitwear collection. The collection will have 20 looks total and will include both women’s and men’s styles.
