DKNY Partners With Opening Ceremony
Opening Ceremony and DKNY are teaming on a limited capsule collection featuring several key signature DKNY looks from its early Nineties archive. The 15 pieces will be available at Opening Ceremony boutiques in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo, as well as openingceremony.us on Friday. The collection recreates the moment DKNY made a fashion statement with pieces featuring its famous New York landscape print and body-conscious silhouettes. The styles in the capsule collection include a cropped puffer jacket, t-shirts, bodysuit, hooded sweatshirt, leggings, a hooded jumpsuit, a hooded dress, and a color-blocked jumpsuit. Many of the pieces are from 1991-1994. Prices for the pieces range from $145 to $665. Jane Chung, executive vice president of design for DKNY, said she has always admired Opening Ceremony since its 2002 opening. “Their unique and creative point of view mixed with Nineties throwbacks are very reminiscent of DKNY’s core DNA. They were a natural partner to reissue iconic styles from our early years,” Chung said.
Barneys to Launch an Off-Price Website
Barneys New York is launching a permanent off-price site. Launching Monday, Barneyswarehouse.com will allow consumers who don’t live near one of Barneys’ 13 outlet stores to shop for bargains. Merchandise on the warehouse site will be past-season sale items at discounts of up to 75 percent off. The website will include women’s wear, men’s wear, and children’s wear and the merchandise will be updated throughout the season. Barneys doesn’t buy a lot of merchandise for its outlet stores, instead using them for liquidation. Barneyswarehouse.com will be part of this liquidation as well. Some e-commerce sites have performed like a company’s biggest-volume store, and Barney’s should be no exception. The company is expecting the website to be a huge success.
Fragrance Foundation Announces the Indie Award Winner for 2013
The Fragrance Foundation and Elements Showcase revealed Monday night in New York City that Amber Oud by Kilian has won the 2013 Fragrance Foundation Indie Award. An Indie fragrance is a brand that has been on the market for at least two years, but is not owned or distributed by a large company. The competition is scored from one to five (five being the highest score) and the 30 entries were judged based on both the fragrance and packaging. “Amber Oud’s provocative scent and innovative packaging helped it stand out in the creative and forward-thinking Indie category,” said Elizabeth Musmanno, president of the Fragrance Foundation.
