Summary: Katie Gallagher may very well be a psychic with her new Fall 2013 RTW collection. In the beginning hours of winter storm Nemo, Gallagher’s appropriately named “The Winter Froze You Away” collection was presented to a chilled and frozen crowd.
High above, in the middle of Meatpacking’s Standard Hotel, stood her 17 mysterious dark, frostbite-esque looks. Black was the main (and perhaps only) noticeable color in this collection even though navy blue and spots of grey can be seen under close observation. So what makes this collection note-worthy? It’s all in the details! A simple jersey mini dress is brought to life with a tree branch accenting belt. A fringed A-line dress comes to life when paired with a fur-hooded jacket and polka dot tights. And a simple black mini cowl-neck tunic sweater is made exciting with detailed bell-sleeves with fabric patches.
The collection is feminine, made for a stylish Wicked Witch of the West or a night out for Snow White’s wicked stepmother. Still, it’s chic and urban vibe keeps it cool and down-to-earth, if not slightly outlandish.
Textures and Fabrics: Fur, wool, cashmere, jersey cotton, with touches of silk.
Colors: Nothing but black, and perhaps the occasional shade of grey.
Key Looks: Black fringe A-line dress topped with a hooded fur jacket; Charcoal crop sweater with a black full-swing skirt and tree branch belt; Black body-con dress with tree branch fringe sleeve detailing.
