Summary: Some time around Day 5 of Fashion Week, we fashion editors tend to get a little tired. Gasp! It’s true, trotting around a blizzard covered New York City from one show to another can get boring, especially if the show is less than spectacular.
It’s for this reason that DL1961’s show was such a treat. Opening the denim brand’s Fall collection was the dancing group kr3ts. Black and white clad dancers set the groove, with a little help from Rihanna’s “Diamonds.”
As for the clothes, DL1961 was very big on leather for fall 2013. The brand incorporated the fabric in their denim, adding an enormous amount of detailing to what used to be a casual fabric. There was a perfect blending of masculine meets feminine with girly colored leather pieces with peplum detailing contrasted with tuxedo button downs with black accented collars. As for the denim bottoms, these jeans are s-k-i-n-n-y! So you better not lag on your gym time this summer, because you need to get yourself into these cool denim pieces!
Color was huge for this denim brand. DL1961 experimented with a deep ocean blue, army neutrals in ivory, green, and black, as well as spots of deep burgundy. This fall runway show also marked the official launch of DL1961’s women’s RTW line, which seems perfect for the chic urban dweller with some seriously rad fashion sense.
Textures and Fabrics: leather, cotton, silk, jersey, and of course, denim!
