It is not secret that Ralph Rucci has a love of structure and architecture. This is an obvious draw for the hair and makeup from the Ready-to-Wear Fall ’13 collection. Famed MAC Key Artist Tom Pecheux wanted to create a look that were both sleek yet modern, always pumping with a lot of energy. “This look is couture, graphic, timeless, sophisticated as well as powerful,” said Pecheux. “This is creating a very strong look … modern but using something from the past.”

The skin is left with a clean and porcelain finish. The skin is prepped with Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation for a natural yet perfect look. Mineralize Concealer is put on the skin to cover up any imperfections and Transparent Finishing Powder is dusted on to finish the look as well as minimize pores.

The eyes are once again the true focal point of this look. Blacktrack Fluidline is used to create a very structured line around the rims, as well as in the crease of the eyelid. Carbon Eyeshadow is used to help deepen the color and add dimension to the line without being so harsh. Then, #7 Lashes are added to give the dramatic eye just one more pop, while also opening up the eye. The lashes are then finished off with Haught & Naughty Mascara. Lips are then finished off with just Mauvey Lipstick, a very nude color. This result in a super clean look, where the eyes can’t help but be the huge draw in this look from Ralph Rucci.

Perfecting the hairstyle.

Hair also plays a huge part in the development of this look, but balances out to not overpower the clothing or the makeup. The face is the first thing people see and the hair is another breath-taker. The hair is first brushed all back away from the face and gelled into a small hook at the back of the neck. The hair still has volume but only at the back. It lifts away from the neck, almost into another plane. The hair is then pulled back to a very low ponytail and braided. This will add more volume to the hair and keep it from falling. The hair takes on a very structured form, one of which has never been seen before. The end result is very sleek and structural, but also very feminine.
