Lagerfeld’s Design For Melissa Revealed
Melissa, the Brazilian maker of jelly shoes, and Karl Lagerfeld have partnered up to create a new shoe. The first design that was revealed by Lagerfeld, donned the colors of the Brazilian flag on a curvy Mary Jane style shoe.
“The best way to know a country is to work with people from that country,” Lagerfeld said.
Lagerfeld and Melissa are set to prepare more collaborative designs in the future as they’ve signed on for a four season deal. This collection will launch on March 26 at the Galeria Melissa in New York. Shipments of this collections will be available as soon as March in Brazil. The rest of South America will receive theirs in April. However, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and Africa will have to wait until June.
TJX Finally Transitions To E-commerce
The TJX Cos. Inc. is about to dive into the e-commerce world. The retailer, which operates TJ Maxx and Marshalls is late in the e-commerce game compared to other companies, but TJX will go into further detail on its e-commerce plans Wednesday.
TJX has been accumulating market share where many of its competitors have relied on sales from the Web to keep growth up.
“The retailer’s comparable-store sales rose 7 percent last year on top of 4 percent gains in both 2011 and 2010 and a 6 percent increase in 2009. If the company ultimately creates an online presence commensurate with its 3,050 stores, it will take a big bite out of the fastest-growing and most promising segment of the retail market”
Although TJX is more than capable of moving to e-commerce that doesn’t mean it will be an easy transition for the company. It was note by observers that the online switch would push TJX out of its traditional comfort zone. However, if they prove they can be successful, the world of e-commerce might be greatly altered.
