Against my better judgement, this past Saturday, I braved midtown crowds and throngs of teenage girls to visit H&M’s Fifth Avenue flagship to see the ultra adorable AnnaSophia Robb, star of The Carrie Diaries. She was there host Seventeen Magazine and H&M’s spring “Denim Days” campaign launch. Over 300 guests waited in line and enjoyed 25% off denim purchases, Americana-themed sweet treats, and a mix of great tunes while they customized their denim with the help of Seventeen’s style experts! In addition, style-savvy actress AnnaSophia Robb recommended her favorite denim fashions.

Teenage girls were literally in tears when meeting the petite star.

OK, now I have to admit I watch the show. Yes, I do. Mostly because it’s like reliving my high school days. The music, the clothes and all the set details make me a little nostalgic for the good old days…less the teenage angst. I also enjoy picking out the errors in such as music from the wrong years (I KNOW my 80’s music) and the styles. It’s like a game to me. I digress. I learned the show’s costume designer, Eric Daman actually sources some of outfits Carrie wears on the show at H&M. How scary that the 80’s are truly back.

However, it’s smart to source items that girls can actually run out and buy. So now I understand why I see the costume mistakes I do. It all makes sense. The show isn’t completely authentic 80’s and I suppose that’s OK. “I love H&M because it’s affordable and that’s where I shop.  It’s accessible to girls my age and to women in general and it’s fashionable,” said AnnaSophia Robb.
