The University of Chicago’s MODA held it’s spring fashion show this past Friday in Union Station’s Great Hall. The student-run organization was established almost ten years ago with a goal to provide an outlet for students showing passion for design, style, art and photography. Though MODA is aimed to provide resources for students with a pension for all creative talents, fashion has established itself as a key contributing factor to its success.
MODA’s annual spring show has gotten bigger and bigger as time has passed and this year was no exception. With this year’s venue being Union Station (the second year at in this space) and hundreds of fashion enthusiasts attending, the show did not disappoint and gave many young designers a taste of the fashion industry. The student designers showcased this year come from very diverse backgrounds, with many having designed in the spring 2012 show. Joy Mao, Harrison Yu, Mary Ella Simmons, and Lily Lai were among the group to show us their talents. And I’m sure it’s safe to say, we’ll all be seeing more from them in the future.
