Tom Ford Boutique Opens in Paris

With a men’s boutique in Paris already thriving, Tom Ford has officially opened his three-story boutique for women on Rue Saint Honoré. The occasion was celebrated with a chic cocktail party; however the busy designer was not in attendance. Lingerie star Chantal Thomass was dressed in a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier pantsuit. It girls interjected a rock-chic vibe into the soiree, looking fab in leather pieces from the timeless designer.

Amazon Partners With 10 Crosby Derek Lam

Amazon wants to sell designer brands. The online retailer is continuing to push into the fashion world today when it launched an online store exclusively for Derek Lam’s 10 Crosby contemporary line. It’s the first store of its kind for Amazon.

The new 10 Crosby store is another indication that Amazon is serious about fashion. The launch follows Amazon’s decision to lease a 40,000-square-foot space in Brooklyn, N.Y. that will serve as a photo studio. It will open later this year and its first fashion television commercial aired March 4. The hold Amazon has on e-commerce and mobile commerce is sure to tighten.

$14.1M Worth of Hermès Fakes Seized

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials seized hundreds of counterfeit Hermès handbags in Los Angeles. The bags had a total retail value of $14.1 million. Authorities investigated shipments from China and seized 1,500 fake Hermès bags at the Port of Long Beach in February.

Handbags and wallets had the largest number of counterfeit goods seized last year, which totaled $1.26 billion. Most of the bogus goods are manufactured in China, 87.3 percent of the total according to customs. The value of counterfeit handbags and wallets rose 142 percent last year.
