& Other Stories Debuts In London

Hennes & Mauritz, the names behind the H&M retailer have created another series of shops. & Other Stories, their new retail brand opened its doors in London to get the ball rolling. The label has forged C-labs which are temporary partnerships with other labels and designers including Clare Vivier’s bags and accessories and Alyson Fox’s jewelry and fashion designers by Abigail Lorick to name a few. According to Anna Teurnell, the head of design for these C-labs, explains that these other labels already complement what Hennes & Mauritz already has. “London is the first of eight European openings set for spring; the next store will open in Copenhagen on Friday, followed by Stockholm later this month.”

Target Ends Its Collaborations, Or Does It?

According to an article on the Star Tribune website, retailer, Target is putting its boutique Shops on hiatus. The concept of Target Shops allowed about a half-dozen boutiques around the U.S to create merchandise to sell exclusively to Target stores. “Spokeswoman Katie Boylan said Target has not ruled out bringing Shops back at some point. But for now, the company is focused on its traditional design partnerships.”

However, USA Today announced that Target would be partnering with Lauren Bush Lauren, niece of former president, George W. Bush and daughter-in-law of designer, Ralph Lauren. FEED Projects is the company started by Lauren that sells simple burlap bags. These proceeds help feed children through the United Nations World Food Program. Target hopes to donate $10 million meals to hungry Americans through this collaboration. The retailer will sell tote bags, kitchenware and blankets as a part of this collection. The proceeds from this collection which will launch on June 30 will benefit Feeding America, a non-profit organization that has more than 200 food banks in the United States.

Girls On Film

Lena Dunham, creator of HBO’s “Girls” has combined her talents in film with the fashion world. Dunham recently directed a short film titled “BFF” for designer, Rachel Antonoff to display the designer’s fall collection. Antonoff’s brother, Jack who did the music for the film dates Dunham. To complete all of the family ties, Dunham’s sister, Grace, stars in the four-minute fashion flick sporting a variety of pieces from Antonoff’s fall collection. The screening for the film will take place on March 28 at the National Arts Club in New York.
