The designers meet Tim Gunn at Lord & Taylor for details about their next challenge. The new teams are as follows: Stanley and Patricia, Daniel and Michelle, and Samantha, Layana, and Richard. This week’s task is to create ready to wear looks for spring 2013 inspired by the iconic Lord & Taylor rose logo. The winner of the challenge will have their looks sold in Lord & Taylor stores and online March 21st. (If you like the winning look, it’s in stores and online now!) The looks will also be featured in the Fifth Avenue store window. The retail price has to be under $250 per look and the teams of two are responsible for two looks, while the team of three is responsible for three looks.
Even though they are on the same team, Richard isn’t speaking to Layana because she dissed him during judging last week. Stanley and Patricia are also fighting, and then Michelle and Daniel start disagreeing! This causes tension among the designers and it’s limiting my funny quotes too. Daniel is also upset when he has to take apart his bubble-gum pink jacket and feels like he’s losing his ability to make clothes that make people happy.
The president of Lord & Taylor, Bonnie Brooks is the guest judge and designer Rachel Roy is filling in for Zac Posen this week. Despite their arguing, Michelle and Daniel are the winning team! Stanley and Patricia are safe, but sadly Samantha, Layana, and Richard are the losing team. The judging wasn’t too harsh this week and the judges didn’t downright hate a particular look, but they definitely had their favorites. Michelle is the clear winner of this challenge! The elimination came between Richard and Samantha. In a surprising twist, Samantha is sent packing. My guess is all the viewers thought Richard would be going home based on the judges’ critique.
