Mango Challenges Zara
Spanish retailer Mango was close to withering away. Their formal attire just wasn’t appealing to their audiences anymore — not even their employees wore their clothes. Today, that same retailer is taking the time to learn some lessons from its rival, Inditex SA (ITX), owner of the Zara brand. Mango has dropped the stiff formal attire for more casual clothing options and it’s showing to be a step in the right direction for the brand. This change has allowed Mango to get ahead of Inditex $21 billion clothing market.
“We had gone way too far with our focus on clothes for parties and events,” said Enric Casi, general manager of the Barcelona-based retailer. “Not even our employees wore Mango.”
The company says that they have cut prices by about 20 percent across the board and has placed more of an emphasis on the fast-fashion model. They’ve also increased expansion outside of Spain. Another big move that is aiding this once weary brand is the addition of men’s and accessories brands. They are also planning on introducing brands for kids, underwear and sports later this year, with a line for teenagers and plus sizes debuting next year.
After 28 years together Mark Badgley and James Mischka were finally married. The nuptials took place on Friday at New York City Hall. O’Hara, Badgley’s twin sister was the only witness for the quiet ceremony. After they sealed the deal, the groom and groom celebrated with a dinner accompanied by 22 of their friends. The small gathering took place at Raoul’s followed by a Sylvia Weinstock cake.
Dallas Gets Another Dior
I’m not quite sure if everything really is bigger in Texas but I know that things just got a whole lot better with the opening of a new Dior. About 200 were in attendance at the opening of Christian Dior‘s new store at Highland Park Village. At the opposite end of the shopping centre, guests could also visit the “Dior Couture Patrick Demarchelier” exhibit. The exhibit featured seven mannequins dressed in Dior as well as photography.
