André Leon Talley Has Book Party

Fashionistas all over Manhattan headed to Marc Jacobs’ Bookmarc on Friday to celebrate the new book, “Little Black Dress.” André Leon Talley was present to sign copies of his new work.

The 208-page book attracted guests such as Robert Verdi, Lorenzo Martone and model Jeisa Chiminazzo. Guests had the opportunity to mingle with one another while enjoying complimentary glasses of champagne, and waiting for the “man of the hour.”

Denim On The Rise

From it’s humble beginnings, denim has worked its way up in the fashion market and continues to do so today. Denim is far from dying, it’s actually growing stronger. The market for denim is experiencing a double-digit growth at retail.

“In the 12 months through February, women’s jeans sales in the U.S. enjoyed one of their strongest surges in recent history, growing 12.3 percent to $8.84 billion from $7.87 billion in the prior one-year period, according to data processed from consumers by The NPD Group of Port Washington, N.Y. Impressive on its own merits, that growth is more than triple the growth rate for women’s apparel overall during the same period, as the larger category experienced an increase of 4 percent to expand to $112.84 billion.”

With no signs of slowing down, don’t feel bad about splurging on a few new pairs of jeans. Just think of it as doing the market a favor.

Simply Unforgettable

“Saks Fifth Avenue’s Unforgettable Evening” will be held on May 2 this year. The evening benefiting Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund will be held at the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills. With Chelsea Handler as hostess, the night is sure to be a humorous one.

Kylie Minogue, a Grammy Award-winning performer, will be accepting the 2013 Courage Award. This award is being presented to her because of her fight with breast cancer as well as her efforts in raising awareness for the disease. Carolina Herrera will be accepting the Nat King Cole award for her contributions as well as charitable works for the organization.
