Put away the parkas and those heavy knit sweaters because it’s finally here. Summer has finally arrived! I have never been more excited for warm summer nights, picnic lunches and days at the park than this year. But there’s one thing missing from that scenario: the perfect summer wardrobe.
I think the real trick in summer is having a wardrobe that can easily transition from the office to the patio. The calendar fills up during the summer and you will almost never have time to run home and change. You want to look and feel comfortable at work but you always want to look nice for the nighttime. No one wants to wear cut-off jean shorts to the Monday morning meeting and looking chic is easier than you think!
Graphic prints are always a standout. Florals are in this season (aren’t they always?) so that’s an easy trend to wear both day and night. These prints work best on dresses and boxy shorts. If you wear shorts, make sure to keep the fabric loose. Longer length shorts look better in a professional setting and can easily be upgraded with a tailored blazer. Easy-going wedge sandals or flats are perfect to wear around the office without killing your feel by the end of an eight hour day.
Also, make sure you toss on some sparkly jewels to complete the look. People at the office will say you look dressed up while it’s so easy to walk out the door without adding extra accessories from your handbag. And I love to finish off every outfit with a chic pair of sunglasses (you have to keep that blinding sun out of your precious peepers while sipping drinks outdoors).
I’m going to run out for some summer fun right now (even if it isn’t officially summer yet)!
