It was busy and somewhat crowded backstage at Fashion 2013, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s 79th annual fashion show on Friday, May 3, 2013. There were over 50 Factor Runway models preparing to walk the runway inside a tent set up at Chase Promenade in Millennium Park in Chicago. It was along day with three presentations, two in the afternoon and one in the evening at THE WALK, the school’s annual benefit.
Hair was styled by Ulta. I met Ulta Head of Salon Education, Tracy Guthrie, who told me they styled the models’ hair so it would be soft and ethereal, not too “set”and swept away from the face. “This show is all about the designs,” she said, “So we wanted a look that would showcase the students’ work.”
Makeup was provided by Maybelline New York overseen by celebrity makeup artist Gabrielle Almodovar.
Gabrielle showed me the vivid colors used for the shows. “We used a bright red and bright orange to accentuate the eye.” he told me, “Then we created a bold dual winged eyeliner, top and bottom, and used a cream white on the lid.”
