On Monday I attended The Makeup Show here in NYC primarily to see my friends Lianne Farbes of TheMakeupGirl and Felicia Walker Benson of ThisThatBeauty speak on a panel about social media and the beauty industry. However, on the way out I just had to browse some of the booths even though it was pretty much pandemonium. If you are a makeup artist and need to know what products are the latest and greatest, this show is a must. For someone like me, it is totally crazy pants. I knew I had about a half hour before I would have to escape the madness.
So I was walking briskly around the first floor (I never made it to the second floor) and stopped at very few booths. You couldn’t get near the NARS or MAC Pro booths, so I didn’t even try. However I did stop by a few and one I actually bought from was Kevyn Aucoin Beauty. I had heard his eyelash curler was one of the best on the market today and my beloved Shu Uemura one had just recently bit the dust. When I saw I could get the normally $20 curler for $12 (discounted for the show) I plunked down a $20 faster than you can spell Kevyn Aucoin.
I was told by the person behind the booth the Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler is so popular because it’s lightweight and has an extra long red rubber pad so it’s easier to curl all the lashes at once. Not to mention the red pad also allows you to properly line up the roots of the lashes for a better curl. It doesn’t tug and it doesn’t hurt. I have to say, I have used it a few times already and have to agree. It curls brilliantly. No wonder it won Allure magazine’s ‘Best of Beauty’ award for Best Eyelash Curler, 2012. It’s the same price as the Shu Uemura eyelash curler, but I have to admit, I like this one a bit better.
