Finds On A Dime: Punk It Up

May 13, 2013 • Finds On A Dime, Magazine

With risk comes great reward each season at the Met Gala. This year’s theme, ‘Punk: From Chaos to Couture’ turned the elegant affair into a soirée of celebs donned in pins, slits and black gowns galore. Spiked hair in shades of shocking white to platinum was amongst the norm and smoked shadows took center stage.

On the red carpet, the reoccurring definition of punk was expressed as a personal fashion statement versus dressing in a stereotypical “punk” uniform of black, hardware and leather. Punk was a sense of rebellion and a commitment to non-conformance.

Finally, thanks to the Met Gala’s punk theme we can all walk with a chip on our shoulder. Edgy is the new elegance and who doesn’t enjoy breaking the rules once in awhile?
