If you’re in Chicago in the next few months, chances are all the good-looking men are perusing the man-tastic wares at the new Haberdash pop up shop in theWit Chicago hotel. Located on the lobby level and adjacent to the hotel’s swanky lounge, State & Lake, the new Haberdash pop up shop assigns a new meaning to men’s style and substance. The space is small but mighty, brimming with a carefully edited selection of inventory from the store’s bigger brothers on State St., which include clothing, accessories, and a mini apothecary to boot. Additionally, theWit’s front desk and bellmen staff debuted newly designed uniforms on May 24, specially created and styled by Haberdash.
“We came up with this pop-up shop concept as a team because we felt that guests at theWit would appreciate the expert styling, level of service and quality craftsmanship Haberdash offers its customers. It’s a chance for us to offer guests a well-rounded experience while staying at our hotel and introduce them to a brand that’s in line with ours. That’s why this collaboration with Haberdash is such an exciting endeavor for us and a natural fit. Both brands are approachable, modern, fun and have distinctive personalities,” said Sharon Trudell, director of marketing, theWit.
We received a 360 degree tour by none other than the State St, manager himself, Sean Moran. Sipping cocktails with names like ‘The Suit and Tie’ (love you, JT!) and ‘Hey There, Good Looking’ from the night’s spirits sponsor, Koval Distillery, while hearing all about the new Haberdash pop up shop space, made us feel more and more like we had accidentally trespassed into a private men’s club. And we kinda liked it. The shop will reside within theWit until the end of summer and, Moran tipped us off, maybe even until the holidays! So if you miss this key opportunity to snatch up a stellar Father’s Day gift, you will definitely have no excuse by Christmas. Let’s just hope he’s still speaking to you by then.
As for the brands the shop carries, the front table draws you in with the bold-lettered Apolis Market Bag (above), a staple from the socially conscious brand’s Bangladesh Project which employs 21 women in Bangladesh has 30 Partners across six countries participating in the project. The accessories are truly notable, with round-faced watches from Daniel Wellington, brightly-colored socks from Corgi and achingly dapper ties from Drake’s and Gitman Bros. for Haberdash. The apothecary boasts cult fave skincare line, Malin + Goetz, along with woody fragrances from D.S. & Durga and Moonshine and the fabulous, glass-bottled face potions by Aesop. After perusing the wall, we were more than a little envious and mentally taking notes of what our own medicine cabinets needed.
From the luxe la to the knowledgeable stylists that run the show, the new Haberdash pop up shop in the the elegant space of theWit Chicago hotel is worth the trip on the Brown line just to stop by and check it out. The store could not have come at a better time, between shopping for dad, grads and all the other special fellas in your life.
