Everyone in Chicago knows you can’t wait for the weather in order to start celebrating summer. So despite the chilly temps, we hoofed it over to the sleek & modern space of Roka Akor Steak, Seafood, and Sushi to kick off their summer special, “Shochu and Suchi.” Starting this past week, June 12th, every Wednesday from 5 – 7p.m., the Roka Bar will be offering a delicious food and drink package within their opulent open air setting. For $25.00 a person, enjoy Mixologist Jason Huffman’s signature Raspberry Ginger Shochu Cocktails, infused with selected market-fresh fruits and spices and cooled in punch bowls pf crystal-clear blocks of ice. Guests will also be treated to passed trays of Roka Akor Executive Chef Brett Vibber’s classic and exotic sushi rolls, including Hamachi Serrano, Dynamite Scallop, Tuna Four Ways, and Yellowtail & Sweet Shrimp Sashimi.
We were privy to special preview of these divine delicacies at the kick off this week, sampling the refreshing Shochu flavors like Peach and Thyme and nibbling on the rainbow-colored array of Chef Vibber’s maki arrangements (above) as well as the meticulously arranged sea food plates as well. The room was packed, the vibe was bumpin’, and we can’t imagine how much better Roka Bar’s “Shochu and Sushi” Wednesday will be once it does start to look like summer outside! And don’t stop there — Roka Akor Steak, Seafood, and Sushi has been voted on the “Top 10 Sushi Spots in the United States” by Bon Appetit and Travel & Leisure Magazine, as well as 2013 Michelin Guide recommended. Stop by for ‘Schochu and Sushi” then make a night of it and stay for dinner. We’ll see you over there on Wednesday nights this summer!
