Stella McCartney to Expand Denim
Stella McCartney has always been a jeans girl, often wearing denim for personal appearances and regularly featuring it in her runway collections. Now, McCartney has decided to expand her denim range to 10 styles available in 20 washes for spring 2014. The collection will include shorts and jeans in skinny, wide-leg and boyfriend styles as well as low-, mid- and high-rise fits. Classic indigo washes will come in over-dyed, faded and dégradé, and there will be a significant novelty component, including a range of pink washes and heart and leopard prints. Not only that, she is also incorporating a new denim technology, using a fabric that reduces stretching as the jeans wear and tear, while shaping to the body!
Azzaro Taps Spanish Duo as Creative Directors
Azzaro is now teaming up with Arnaud Maillard and Alvaro Castejón, two Spain-based designers, as the French fashion house’s new creative directors. The duo will unveil a pre-collection of roughly 25 styles on July 5 at the Azzaro boutique in Paris, said Carlos Reig, president of Azzaro International and vice president of Andorra-based Reig Capital Group, the brand’s owner. Maillard and Castejón said they “respect and are playing with” Azzaro’s DNA, which means special-occasion clothes, long and short dresses for cocktail-evening and a few pants in bright colors like orange and fuchsia and floral prints “with a spirit of the Seventies.” Watch for lots of sparkle and hand embroideries, contrasting textures, transparency and innuendos.

Monday afternoon, Marie Claire gathered a group of influential women to host the luncheon at Marea restaurant in New York. Editor-In-Chief Anne Fulenwider and VP, Publisher Nancy Berger Cardone, presented awards to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Katie Couric, Tory Burch, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Serena Williams for paving a path for women in their respective fields. Each of them gave amazing speeches and also reminisced with the crowd about their past and present experiences. Serena Williams couldn’t attend the event because she was stuck in Paris doing press after her French Open win.
