Marc Jacobs To Launch Beauty Line At Sephora
Jacobs has designed everything from couture to Coke cans, infusing each with a sense of elegance and whimsy. He brings the same design sensibility to his new beauty collection, which will debut on Aug. 9 exclusively at Sephora, sephora.com and select Marc Jacobs stores. The introduction of Jacobs’ collection will mark the first time Sephora has launched a brand simultaneously in all freestanding Sephora stores across the U.S. and Canada.
The 122 unit line is broken down into four broad categories: Smart Complexion, Blacquer (Jacobs’ personal favorite), Hi-Per Color and Boy Tested, Girl Approved. Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation is a $48 antiaging formula offering 16 shades and introducing buoyancy gel technology; it is buildable from natural to full coverage. A holiday color collection is planned, as are additional core collection offerings beginning in spring 2014.
Emilio Pucci Opens In Miami Design District
Emilio Pucci continues to invest in its retail network and has opened a 1,728-square-foot boutique in Miami’s Design District, the brand’s third location in Southern Florida.
Florida has historically been a strategic market for Pucci. “The new opening is an important step in the development of our business in the U.S.” said Emilio Pucci president and chief executive officer Alessandra Carra. In the region, the company has six monobrand boutiques and the brand is carried at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom, as well as a large number of high-end specialty stores.
Art Deco-era pastel and tropical hues evocative of Pucci’s prints stand out on furnishings and decor in the new venue. Brass “totems” spelling Pucci, an homage to props the namesake founder of the brand used in one of his first fashion shows, mark the store. High-gloss brass fixtures and distinctive, purple-veined Breccia dei Medici marble reminiscent of Palazzo Pucci in Florence are also featured.
Zac Posen Goes Bridal
Zac Posen is trying his hand at designing wedding dresses. This would be a first for the designer as he has only designed gowns for a few of his friends. The Truly Zac Posen label will make its debut in 50 of David’s Bridal’s 307 stores and online in February. The retail chain plans to roll out the collection to 100 stores by the end of this year. While six wedding dresses will initially be offered in ivory, with a touch of portobello, the five limited-edition social occasion dresses will be available in neutral and seasonal colors. Bridal gowns will retail from $850 to $1,350 and social occasion dresses will range from $195 to $225. Each collection will be later be rounded out to have about 10 styles.
According to the NY Post, Lululemon Athletica, is planning to open standalone men’s stores by 2016, outgoing Chief Executive Officer Christine Day said yesterday. The brand has offered menswear, but has not done well reaching the demographic, so they hope the stores will help.
