“I Shop New York” Initiative Has Launched

The Retail Council of New York State has launched a new iniative called “I Shop New York.” It encourages New Yorkers to support their local stores before shopping at out-of-state internet merchants. Ted Potrikus, the council’s executive vice president, released a statement saying, “Retailers employ more New Yorkers than any other industry.  One in five of nearly 2.5 million jobs are directly or indirectly supported by retailers.” The council, which is a non-profit trade association, is focusing on helping the state’s business community recover from the most recent recession.
