Gucci Launches New Men’s Fragrance
Gucci lovers have a new scent to choose from. The men’s cologne, called Made to Measure, launched and actor James Franco is the face. Gucci is partnering the new men’s fragrance with Gucci Première, a women’s fragrance that launched last year. Like Gucci Première, Made to Measure was inspired by the clothing line of the same name. Industry sources said it could bring in $180 million at retail in its first year on the market. Check out Made to Measure when it hits all stores in August.
Neiman Marcus To Go Public
It was recently reported that Neiman Marcus might be sold. Now it seems they are going public. Yesterday the luxury retailer filed for an IPO and put a $100 million placeholder value on the deal, according to the New York Post.
An IPO could come as soon as this fall, assuming a bidder with very deep pockets doesn’t take a sudden interest to purchase the retailer.
Rent the Runway Buys Go Try It On
To acquire customers and talent, Rent the Runway, purchased Go Try It On (the company and mobile app). The company will essentially cease to exist and its customer lists will be owned by Rent the Runway. The app launched in March 2010, and enabled its mobile community of users to share their outfits within their social network, to share feedback.
Marissa Evans, the former ceo and founder of Go Try It On, will join Rent the Runway as head of radical innovation, a newly created role for the rental site. Two other full-time and one part-time staffers will also join Rent the Runway.
New Faces For Old Brands
Kate Moss has been tapped to be the face of Versace’s fall ad campaign, promoting its so-called “Vunk” collection, which is in reference to the house’s punk signatures. Similarly, Cara Delevingne will be the face of Mulberry’s fall ad campaign. Yet, this one is a little more refined and inspired by the darkness of the English countryside.
Gant Rugger to Open in Chicago
Gant Rugger is coming to Chicago! The new store, the first in the Midwest, will be located at 1702 North Deman Avenue in the Bucktown area. Standing on 2,000-square-feet, the Chicago location will be the largest store in the U.S. Be ready to shop til you drop when the store opens its doors on July 1.
Stephen Mormoris Appointed New SVP of Coty Inc.
Coty Inc., the global beauty products manufacturer of fragrances like Calvin Klein and nail polish brands like OPI, announced that Stephen Mormoris has been appointed the senior vice president of global marketing, American Fragrances, for Coty Prestige. Additionally, Johanna Businelli has been named the senior vice president of Color Cosmetics, Coty Beauty, a newly created role.
Mormoris will work closely with Jean Mortier, president of Coty Prestige, who said “Steve is a seasoned, top-notch marketer who has played a key role in Coty’s success over the past 12 years.” The changes will be effective July 1, 2013.
