Vanity Fair France went American for its very first issue. American actress Scarlett Johansson graces the cover this July. Michael Denisot, editorial director of Vanity Fair France said Johansson was a great choice partly, because she splits her time between the U.S. and France. “She has every quality imaginable — the elegance, beauty, wit and impertinence…,” he said at a news conference held in the arty Saint-Germain-des-Prés district.
Along with Johansson’s feature story, the magazine covers Nicholas Vreeland, the grandson of the late fashion icon Diana Vreeland, and Paris’ legendary nightclub called Les Bains Douches.
The magazine aims to achieve an initial circulation of 85,000, rising to 100,000 within three years. The website hopes to attract 500,000 unique visitors.
