Jason Wu Chooses Christy Turlington for Fall Campaign
Jason Wu has tapped supermodel Christy Turlington to front his brand this fall. The campaign was shot at iconic New York eatery Mr. Chow and the images will debut in the fall issues of fashion glossies.
“It was great getting to meet and spend some time with Jason,” Turlington said. Wu added, “I’ve been a huge fan of Christy and was so delighted that she agreed to appear in my fall campaign. She brings such inimitable charisma and chic to the image.” Wu has a penchant for iconic faces; his spring campaign featured fellow supermodel Stephanie Seymour.
Coach Collaborating With Billy Reid on Capsule Collection
Coach and Alabama-based designer Billy Reid are collaborating on a capsule line of men’s and women’s accessories and bags. Available September, the collection combines Reid’s modern spin on Southern style with elements from the Coach archives.
“The idea started with a phone call from them and I came to look through the archives and it really grew from there,” said Reid. The men’s line includes five different bag styles and five different accessory styles with options for the color and material. The women’s collection includes five bag and clutch styles. Prices range from $250 all the way up to $20,000 for a crocodile tote.
The Coach + Billy Reid collection will be available in nine Coach flagships, one store in Japan, two stores in China, and on coach.com. The women’s line will be carried exclusively at Billy Reid stores. The collaboration comes on the heels of news the brand recently named Stuart Vevers as executive creative director.
Zahia Dehar Preps for U.S. Lingerie Debut
French tabloid sensation Zahia Dehar is teaming up with Cameron Silver, the king of Hollywood vintage, for the U.S. launch of her couture and ready-to-wear lingerie collections. The collections will be available exclusively at Decades in Los Angeles in October.
“I’m very attracted to the idea of presenting extremely glamorous lingerie, because it’s really part of the history of Hollywood,” Silver told WWD. “Plus you can’t put on a great vintage couture evening gown without really nice underpinnings, so it’s a nice alternative to Spanx.”
