New Milan Exhibit Will Showcase Anna Piaggi’s Hats

The late Italian fashion editor Anna Piaggi was known for her eccentric, colorful style. Her legendary hat collection will be on display in Milan. Entitled “Hat-ology,” her close friend and milliner Stephan Jones is curating the exhibit. Visitors to the exhibit will see Piaggi’s life one hat at a time – from a McDonald’s baseball cap to Chanel couture. The exhibit is designed to look like Piaggi’s apartment, giving viewers a deeper look into how she lived. “My hat is personal. It is what contains the soul, the feeling, the sensation that moves this little world around,” Piaggi said in an interview in 2011. “It’s a secret and I want to keep it as secret as possible.” The exhibit will open Sept. 22 at the Palazzo Morando, coinciding with Milan Fashion Week.

Penelope And Monica Cruz To Design Handbag Collection For Loewe

Stuart Vevers’ parting gift as he leaves Loewe to design for Coach? A handbag collection designed by Penelope and Monica Cruz. Created in collaboration with Vevers, the line, entitled The Cruz collection, will hit stores worldwide Nov. 1. The collection, which ranges from cross-body bags with outside pockets accompanied by matching wallets and purses, was created for the busy working woman. Spanish design influence and high-end luxury make the collection special, while retaining practical elements so women can carry the bags all the time.

Urban Outfitters To Open Lifestyle Concept

Urban Outfitters, Inc., the company behind Urban Outfitters, Free People, Anthropologie, Terrain, and BHLDN brands, is opening its largest store in the world at 1333 Broadway in Manhattan. The store’s “Lifestyle Center” concept will measure 56,730 square feet on three levels and will showcase “new features never before seen from the brand,” says Anthony Malkin, president of Malkin Holdings and supervisor of the new behemoth. The building resides in a space that receives little pedestrian traffic, aside from a new pedestrian walkway. Malkin believes the new store “will be a huge catalyst” for the area. The nature of the concept and its name has yet to be determined, but the retailer will take occupancy in the space in September.
