Tommy Hilfiger and Los Angeles shoe designer George Esquivel are teaming up to launch a limited-edition shoe collection for both men and women. The collection will be available on tommy.com on Aug. 23 and in select stores on Sept. 1.
Esquivel’s designs and bright outsoles brilliantly combines with Hilfiger’s preppy style to create a handmade leather loafer shoe. The designers also put together their logos to imprint in the sole of the shoe. Hilfiger and Esquivel first met in 2009 and again in 2011. Soon after, Esquivel made shoes for Hilfiger himself, and Hilfiger thought of the idea to collaborate. The shoes will retail for $399.
“Seeing George’s collection, I thought a collaboration between our brands would be a great initiative…,” Hilfiger told Women’s Wear Daily.
Hilfiger is looking forward to even more collaborations. “Collaborations are a great vehicle for trying something different and to bring a fresh perspective to my vision,” he said.
