Get It Now: Summer 2013 Is So Bright You Gotta Wear Shades

July 15, 2013 • Get It Now, Magazine

It’s not summer without adding at least one new pair of sunglasses to your accessory wardrobe, and while there are some perpetual classics (Ray-Ban aviators,, we’re looking at you), there are some recent trends that may inspire you to shake things up.

Flat Tops
It’s a easy way to get some variation going especially if you are used to classic styles, but it is worth trying out for a different look. The flat top Super Sunglasses at Karmaloop are perfect for adding a little drama, and the pink lenses would work with almost any skin tone.

Primary Colors
Step away from basic black and brown and try a flattering blue, red, or purple shade, like this navy Céline pair. An added bonus – these shades can be more flattering than neutrals on many complexions, and will serve as the “pop” of color to an otherwise basic outfit.

Exaggerated Cat Eyes
These may qualify as “advanced” fashion, but if you can pull them off, extra-pointy cat eye shades like this black and lavender Marc Jacobs pair will look amazing.

With a slightly futuristic vibe, a pair of shield-style sunglasses will not only protect your delicate skin from the sun, but add an techno edge to most outfits. Best with simple looks that are more androgynous – shields like these slate gray Emporio Armanis tend to clash with overly girly pieces.

Blinged Out
Sometimes your standard jewelry just isn’t enough, and that is where a pair of glittering sunnies like these black and gold Dolce & Gabannas come in. Perfect for the days where you are feeling like a diva.
