ROOF on theWit, named a “Model’s Choice” hotel by Elle magazine, is taking fashion to new heights with the return of the popular ROOF Runway Series on select Thursday evenings throughout the summer and fall. For the third consecutive year, ROOF on theWit will serve as the backdrop for Chicago’s most fashion forward crowds to see the city’s hottest emerging design stars, boutiques and designer brand favorites take to the runway for a night of fashion and fun 27 stories above the stylish streets of Chicago.
On a blazingly hot day last week, we were more than ready to sail above the gridlock of downtown and revel in the open air space of ROOF Runway while enjoying the Fall/Winter ’13 collections of some of our favorite local boutique designers, Miriam Cecilia, Sara Jane, and menswear designer J. Toor. Leading up to the runway show, we were able to enjoy the ROOF’s new summer menu including Duck Fat Fries, Surf and Turf Tacos, Black Bean Sliders, and a selection of brick oven flatbreads, as well as a very fancy bottle service spread.
Once the show kicked off at dusk with the sun setting over the skyscrapers of the Loop, models by Factor Women Model Management took to the sleek runway that snaked down the middle of the outdoor area. Guests could nab some of the best seats in the house by sitting at the edge of the actual runway, gaining an intimate and up close look at the gorgeous designs that breezed past. Miriam Cecilia’s always whimsical and ethereal designs included plenty of tulle, a dash of glitter, and peek of tweed for the upcoming fall season. She finished her collection as couturiers around the world do — with a gorgeously voluminous wedding gown, fitting for the designer who was just recently a bride herself.
The other womenswear boutique to show, Sara Jane, brought out a luxe collection awash in color and boho accents. Ponchos, flared pants and floppy hats reigned supreme in the boutiques modern take on bohemian trends. Typically known for their diverse well edited selection of dresses, the immaculate styling of the Wells St. boutique proved their prowess extends to separates, accessories, and outerwear as well. In other words, plenty of reasons to get out there and shop!
Take in all the glamour and local fashion flavor at the next installment of the ROOF Runway series at theWit! Upcoming summer shows include: August 29: The Shops at North Bridge featuring looks by Atelier Azza and more, and September 19: The Men of Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Designer: TBA). We’ll see you there!
