Big news for the Windy City today! Fashion Outlets of Chicago, the first fully-enclosed outlet mall built in Chicagoland in more than two decades will officially open its doors today with 130 stores including Neiman Marcus Last Call, Barneys New York Outlet, Prada, and more! Festivities will include remarks from Mayor Stephens and dignitaries from AWE Talisman and Macerich, performances by the Leyden High School marching band and Cirque Dreams, and a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Last night we were treated to a sneak peek of the posh new space at The Arts Initiative Gala, featuring 11 custom art installations scaling the walls and entryways, suspending from ceilings and wrapping around escalators. The mall itself is housed in an immense 530,000 square foot fully enclosed structure, spanning two floors and including a diverse portfolio of more than 130 outlets. The entire space was available to guests of the gala to view last night, which were were happy to oblige. Chef stations featuring beautifully presented dishes by Food For Thought catering dotted the long, elegant hallways and DJ’s spun the summer’s hottest tunes while we took in the art, the stores and the sights.
We were especially excited to see designer power players like Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Barneys New York and Max Azria holding court among the outlets, as well as luxury brands Gucci and Prada. But arguably the store we were most anticipating it’s opening was the Barneys New York Outlet, which teased us with fresh looking Fall 2013 fashions and shelves of Christian Louboutin heels. If that’s not enough to send you to today’s grand opening, we’re not sure what is! And when you get there, be sure to save a pair for us 🙂
