How creative can you get with a disposable painter’s suit from Home Depot? Apparently, you can style it into at least seven completely different fashionable looks.
In Carine Roitfeld’s ongoing series in her namesake print and digital magazine, CR Fashion Book, the stylist and former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris creates multiple looks using one key wardrobe essential. In a post published yesterday, model Kremi Otashliyska wears a painter’s suit seven different ways. Roitfeld makes the suit look surprisingly wearable, but is it realistic?
The outfits are very simplistic; one look, the “prim suit,” features the painter’s suit with a white long sleeve turtle neck underneath. The outfit is accompanied by a silver handbag and boots by Courreges. A personal favorite is “the dancer suit,” the painter’s suit with the sleeves rolled up, paired with a short petticoat from American Apparel. It creates a cute, fun shape. Whether a woman would wear the outfit is an entirely different question. The point may not be about what a woman would actually wear, but about how someone can create outfits with unexpected materials. And to create these outfits with a $9.50 Kleengaurd painter’s jumpsuit is impressive!
