School of the Art Institute of Chicago Students Show At ELLE FASHION | NEXT

ELLE is linking up with School of the Art Institute of Chicago for the fourth annual FASHION | NEXT event, which will take place at the David H. Koch Theatre at Lincoln Center Sept.6.

The event, a part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, highlights the talents of emerging designers during a live fashion show, where their work will be featured in the October ad December issue of ELLE magazine and on the website.“We are delighted to partner with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago,” said Robbie Myers, editor in chief, ELLE. “Supporting young talent is key to the future of this industry.  Each year we eagerly await the students’ runway collections- it’s exciting to watch the future of fashion in the making.”

This year, the show is comprised of 23 student designs from the graduating class of 2013, which ELLE editors selected in May. “Our students will truly benefit from this incredible opportunity for their work to be seen by a global audience. What a monumental grand finale to their college experience,” said Katrin Schnabl, SAIC Sage Chair in Fashion Design.

The students will have the opportunity to win the Maybelline New York Design Visionary Award, which is $25,000. Students will also compete for the People’s Choice Award,  a $10,000 prize, where ELLE readers pick their favorite by to casting their vote on ELLE.com for one month starting Sept. 6. And one lucky designer will be awarded the ultimate prize, the $25,000 ELLE FASHION | NEXT Design Award. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges made up of fashion industry leaders including Kelly OsbornePamela Love, Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein, Creatures of the Wind, ELLE creative director Joe Zee, ELLE fashion news director Anne Slowey and Carolyn Dawkins, VP of Marketing, from Maybelline New York.
