Designer Jeremy Laing bringing in is collaborating with artist Julia Dault to create a series of collaborative prints for Laing’s Spring 2014 collection. The Canadian duo combined Dault’s precise, labor-intensive process with Laing’s bold, street-style aesthetic to create dynamic looks for the runway. The above prints are the first two of the collection to debut.
They didn’t want to rush the project. “We both agreed on a studio approach where you set a process in motion, follow it through to its conclusion, and learn as it progresses,” Laing told Style.com. Dault creates pretty kaleidoscopic topographies by building up layers of paint, usually on textiles, and scraping the layers away. Her complex, colorful patterns will grace fabrics in Laing’s collection such as “body aware” jersey.
Laing is also teaming up with LD Tuttle to introduce footwear into his Spring ’14 collection; he will also be creating a new menswear line, using himself as his muse.
