For the first time in a long time, the MTV Video Music Awards did not coincide with New York Fashion Week and Fashion’s Night Out. I’ve literally been waiting for the day when it would go back to August and it finally has! Not to mention that MTV has finally made the VMAs matter again – with many notable stars in the audience. But it wasn’t the fact that the VMAs didn’t interfere with NYFW that made it the most-talked about event of the evening. Nor was it Rihanna in the audience, Kanye West’s performance nor N’Sync’s 110 second reunion on stage.
No – it was this!!
In what has become the biggest fashion faux pas of the century – Miley Cyrus has made the fashion world gasp – and even made me cringe for Dolce & Gabbana. I think we can also do a collective hand over face maneuver. I feel sorry for Robin Thicke, who not only looked uncomfortable in a black and white striped suit but also looked uncomfortable behind a grinding Miley Cyrus. Liam Hemsworth, WTF are you thinking?! Miley, we know you want to change your image, but does it have to come to this?
Lady Gaga was fairly tame (and shall we say, conservative?) in comparison – though she did catch everyone’s attention.
Is this seemingly played down Prabal Gurung dress considered normal?
But alas, Miley was not the only one in a questionable ensemble.
Ironically, it was the tweeny heartstoppers that were my pick for best of the night followed closely by Jennifer Hudson in beautiful Dior.
