J. Crew to Collaborate with Sophia Webster
Sophia Webster, who designs playful, bright footwear, has designed a capsule collection for J. Crew. The shoes will debut at the brand’s Fashion Week presentation tomorrow. The shoes reportedly feature taffeta fabric details, pops of neon, tassels, embroidery, and star, floral, and polka dot prints. “The brand has a real sense of fun and color that I love, and I think that my designs complement their clothes well,” Webster said. The Sophia Webster for J. Crew Collection will launch at J. Crew stores and will be available at jcrew.com in 2014. It will consist of 12 styles in different colors and patterns.
Peter Som to Collaborate with Kohl’s
Kohl’s is teaming up with Peter Som on a new, limited-edition collection of clothing. Som is the fourth designer to collaborate with Kohl’s on a limited-edition line. Collaborations with designers are becoming more prevalent at mass-market retailers. In addition to generating attention, some may say the collaborations are giving them fashion credibility. Not many details are released on the Som and Kohl’s partnership yet, but we will keep our ears open!
Coach Starts its Transformation
Coach is set to revamp its store look, logo, packaging, and advertising. The changes will be evident on November 1, and higher-end capsule collections are at the center of the brand’s transformation. The collections will incorporate the brand’s ready-to-wear, bags, shoes, jewelry, eyewear and other accessories. Coach is hoping to be more of a lifestyle brand and is aiming to attract a higher-end customer. The new logo will read “Coach New York” in small metallic letters and updated packaging will debut with the brand’s new advertising campaign.
