Fendi Celebrates Milan Opening
Fendi is gearing up for a day full of fashion frenzy in Milan today. Unveiling its new flagship, hosting a fashion show and staging an exhibition titled “Making Dreams: Fendi and the Cinema,” the luxury brand is making its presence known in the Italian city. “It’s a cultural moment in Milan, we are happy to lend a hand to fashion week, as it is important that it affirms itself in the world, we want to contribute to making it more interesting and attractive,” said Pietro Beccari, president and chief executive officer of the line. The new store follows the Avenue Montaigne store in Paris which opened in July, and both boutiques were designed by Tokyo-based French architect Gwenael Nicolas.
Bally Names New Chief Executive
Frédéric de Narp has snagged the chief executive position at the fashion brand. Most recently the president and chief executive of Harry Winston Inc., de Narp will replace Berndt Hauptkorn, who left at the end of 2011, and chief executive of Bally’s parent Labelux Reinhard Mieck, who’s been temporarily filling the post since Hauptkorn’s departure. Mieck said that de Narp has “proven skills in all the areas that Bally will focus on in the years ahead.” De Narp is set to start Nov. 4.
Parisian Jeweler Aurélie Bidermann Launches Fine Jewelry Line
Most famously known for her oft-imitated macramé and chain jewelry, the designer is taking a stab at fine jewelry. The brand new line will be sold exclusively in the U.S. at Barneys New York across the country and The Webster in Miami beginning in November. The 40 piece collection, which ranges in price from $3,000 to $75,000, was inspired by the exoticism of India, the colors of Greece and the handiwork of metal-smiths in the medieval period. “I wanted to challenge myself to try something new and thought this was the perfect time. It was extremely important that this collection maintain the DNA of the brand that I have been building for the past decade,” Bidermann said
