Alexander McQueen Opens New York Flagship

A 3,500-square-foot Alexander McQueen flagship has opened at 747 Madison Avenue. The store design is the result of a unique collaboration between David Collins Studio and creative director Sarah Burton. Panels covering the walls are adorned with flora and fauna motifs. The 3-D art also features branches, skulls, gargoyles, sea creatures, shells, and the Armadillo shoe from the spring 2010 collection. The main colors used in the space are white, lavender, gold, soft gray and nude. “We wanted to capture the delicateness of Sarah’s creations,” said Simon Rawlings, creative director of David Collins Studio.

Meredith Melling Burke Leaving Vogue

Meredith Melling Burke, one of Vogue’s most prominent editors, gave notice she was leaving before Fashion Week. The senior market editor, who has worked at the magazine since 1997, is looking to work on a new secret venture she’s starting with another Vogue staff member, bookings editor Valerie Boster. Burke said she’ll share details about their project in the next few weeks. “We have learned so much in our combined 25 years at Vogue, and look forward to applying this knowledge to our new venture,” Burke said.

The publication will also host an international film festival in February. Traveler will sell tickets for admission to the screenings of the films, which include feature, independent, and short films. Bill Wackermann, the new publisher of the magazine, threw a party for advertisers and clients to debut the October issue of the publication.
