Le Bon Marché Windows Designed by Sofia Coppola

Le Bon Marché has collaborated with Sofia Coppola to design playful windows. They mark the debut of a new version of the SC bag she originally designed for Louis Vuitton in 2009. The windows are on display until October 26 and feature pink hearts, cherries, peonies, and baby deer. A new version of the SC bag is in a smaller, more compact size and is now available in purple, cherry red, and tan, with the crossbody strap available in orange, purple, and blue. The bag is also available in its original colors- black and off-white. Starting October 1, Le Bon Marché is offering an exclusive limited-edition version of the SC bag in cobalt with fuchsia details applied by hand.

Topshop Plans 28 Stores in America

Sir Philip Green’s retail kingdom is expanding. There are impressive plans to open 150 new Topshop stores around the world over the next year, including 28 Topshop stores in 28 days in the US. Topshop and Topman’s partnership with Nordstrom will also be expanded from 14 stores-within-stores to 42, with the 28 new stores opening in Nordstrom this month. Major cities such as San Diego, Houston, and Washington DC will soon have a Topshop. This year, there will also be new stores in Australia, Vietnam, and Canada, and the first ever store in New Zealand. “We are pushing on,” Sir Philip said.

Discount Retailers Popular with Shoppers

Bargain shoppers aren’t going to stop shopping at discount stores any time soon- the value aspect of their products continues to win over consumers. The proof is in the numbers; Dollar Tree and Dollar General both had a double-digit earnings growth during the quarter. Historically, dollar chains tend to outperform other retailers in a rough economy. The mid- to lower-income customers they target are more economically sensitive than others. Dollar chains are experiencing a “trade-down dynamic.” Both Family Dollar and Dollar General Stores report their fastest-growing customer segment earns $60,000 to $70,000 a year. This differs from their traditional customer income bracket of $35,000 to $50,000. In addition, Dollar Tree customers tend to have higher incomes because the stores are in more suburban areas.
