This past Friday, Elements Chicago hosted a book signing with author Beth Bernstein and a jewelry trunk show featuring Moritz Glik, Sorellina, Allia and local designer Lauren Harper. Beth’s new book Jewelry’s Shining Stars features the designers shaping the future of jewelry. The designers in the trunk show are all featured in the book and each gorgeous collection complemented the next! I was lucky enough to chat with the multi-talented author, who is also a fine jewelry consultant and designer. Beth shared her inspiration for her new book and gave her thoughts on the featured designers.
“It really struck me how innovative and creative independent designers are. I started out the same way years ago and I feel this kinship with them. They start with very little and they make it grow. At first, they’re not tied-down by all the conventions and they can push the boundaries. It’s not always about the diamond stud earring- it’s about how you can change it so it’s really cool for today’s woman. The designers make it their own, and it’s modern and unique. Each designer in the book is a prime example of this and they don’t compete with each other in the way of looks either. Each one has a very distinctive style and I thought it was very important to show this. I love jewelry that tells a story and when you put it on, it’ll tell your story too and becomes a part of you.”
Elements Chicago is located at 741 North Wells St.
