Kerry Washington Joins Neutrogena as Creative Consultant
Kerry Washington will join Neutrogena as not only its latest celebrity brand ambassador, but also in the new role of creative consultant, the Johnson & Johnson-owned company announced on Thursday.
The creative consultant role will go beyond serving as the face for the company’s print and television advertising and extend into product development and marketing initiatives. Her first ads will appear in early 2014, touting the launch of the Visibly Even line’s BB creams as well as core products such as the Makeup Remover Wipes. The company’s other brand ambassadors include Julie Bowen, Jennifer Garner, Hayden Panettiere, Emma Roberts, Kristen Bell and Gabrielle Union.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Opening The Row Store in LA
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will open the first retail store for their brand The Row next year in Los Angeles, the sisters revealed during a small dinner party in London hosted by Net-a-porter. The store will open in the spring, and the Olsens said they said they have been busy putting the project together.
During their flying visit to London, the sisters hosted a trunk show for 50 of Net-a-porter’s top European clients — the bag they call The Sling proved among the most popular items — and said they planned to visit some of the retailers that stock the collection, named after Savile Row. London stockists include Browns, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Joseph, Liberty and Matches.
Estée Lauder Launches Derek Lam Collection
In January, Estée Lauder will launch a limited-edition Derek Lam collection, a makeup lineup.
The collection will be sold as an $85 set of five products — Kajal Crayon in Near Night, a navy blue; The Mascara in Black Black; The EyeShadow in Smoked Gold; The LipColor in Smoked Blush, and The Gloss in Barely Gold — tucked inside a navy Derek Lam clutch. The satin hard-case clutch includes Lam’s signature dumbbell clasp.
The collection’s retail distribution includes Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and esteelauder.com in North America and Harrods, Galeries Lafayette and El Corte Inglés in Europe. Support includes in-store and online promotion as well as marketing through Estée Lauder’s social-media channels.
